John Banville is an extraordinary writer, with a style that sets him apart. I am a great fan of his novels and writings in general, both those published under his own name and the wonderful crime fiction books he has published under the pen name Benjamin Black. Banville’s descriptions of Ireland make you feel you are there, regardless of the time period he is writing about. Few writers know the Irish as Banville does, and most likely few ever will.

We have set up this site because we like his literary works, and have noticed that there was no English language web site for him. We think this wonderful, extraordinary writer deserves more of a web presence!

We will attempt to create a nice, clean looking and attractive web site with lots of materials about our favorite writer, both about him and about his works. Also, we hope to provide a location for discussions about the author and a resources for news about him. For a while the site will be under construction, but we will be adding materials as fast as we can.

Just to be clear on this issue: This site is a fan site, and it is is not expected to make us money! This is a hobby site for us – we do not expect to be paid for the hours spent on this. Even so the site is affiliated with Google and Amazon. The very few dollars we may make on these ads will hopefully contribute towards the costs associated with developing the site, software used and to costs of hosting the site. We hope the site can help to make the immense literary qualities of John Banville more visible on the internet, and perhaps make even more people read his beautiful, sensitive and masterfully crafted books!
